A website to connect people who want to offer temporary accommodation to those affected by bushfires
HelpingHomes is a free website helping people who have some room to spare offer it to others who need a temporary place because of the ongoing bushfires. This “room” can be for singles, families, couples, or even non-humans… like pets or livestock, and can take the form of houses, units, caravans, paddocks, tent sites etc.
To date over 850 people have registered accommodation available in 5 states with room to accommodate over 3500 people. Descriptions are included with general locations accessed on an interactive map that is simple to use. People wishing to take up offers of assistance will find phone numbers on the map and can contact people offering accommodation directly. This is a way for ordinary people to offer practical support to others.
If you have space to spare that can accommodate people, pets, or livestock, please visit HelpingHomes and register your availability.
If you have been affected by bushfire and need somewhere to stay, please visit the site and explore your options.
“No-one should feel like they don’t have support. The generosity of Aussies in times of need is always inspiring and never surprising.”
